World Clean Up Day 2024: Eco Imagination renews its commitment to a cleaner planet

On September 20, 2024, Eco Imagination participated in World Clean Up Day, a global mobilization aimed at fighting pollution and raising awareness about waste management. This year, our action focused on the city center of Nice, where we organized a major operation to clean up streets and public spaces.

In collaboration with the city of Nice, volunteers, and committed citizens, we walked the streets of the city to collect waste, raise awareness among passers-by, and promote more responsible behavior.

City centres are often invaded by waste left on public roads: cigarette butts, plastic packaging, cans, paper, chewing gum, etc. This rubbish not only harms urban cleanliness, but also has a significant ecological impact, particularly by polluting the waterways that flow into the Mediterranean.

💡 Objective of Clean Up Day 2024 in Nice :

✔ Pick up trash on the busiest streets in the city center.

✔ Raise awareness among residents and traders about waste reduction and selective sorting.

✔ Encourage more responsible habits for a cleaner and more pleasant living environment.

Thanks to the involvement of more than 150 volunteers, we collected an impressive quantity of waste in just a few hours.

📊 Summary of the day:

150 kg of waste collected, including:

  • 2,000 cigarette butts, which take up to 12 years to decompose

  • 60 kg of plastics and various packaging

  • 60 kg of cans and glass bottles

  • 30 kg of recyclable paper and waste

This action has significantly improved the cleanliness of the streets while raising awareness among many passers-by about the problem of urban waste and its impact on the environment.

World Clean Up Day 2024 has shown that with action and awareness, we can reduce the impact of waste on our environment. But this day is just the beginning! Eco Imagination will continue to participate in clean-ups and awareness campaigns throughout the year.
